Bacteriostatic water is the recommended diluent for reconstituting lyophilized research peptides — providing a preserved, multi-use solution that maintains the integrity of reconstituted peptides across multiple withdrawal events in the laboratory setting.

Why Use Bacteriostatic Water for Peptide Reconstitution?

Unlike plain sterile water or saline, bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which inhibits bacterial and fungal growth in the reconstituted solution. This is critical in research settings where a single reconstituted peptide vial may be accessed repeatedly over days or weeks. Using unpreserved water risks microbial contamination that could compromise experimental validity. BAC water extends the usable shelf life of reconstituted peptides by up to 28 days when stored at 4°C.
